You know, the usual suing in the techie industry -- except this time it's between the second and third largest TV makers. The bickering began back in December when Sony filed suit against LG, alleging LG mobile phones and Blu-ray players infringe on seven Sony patents. Now, according to Bloomberg, LG has fired back, filing two complaints with the International Trade Commission. LG claims Sony's Blu-ray players, including the PS3, infringes on four of its patents and is hoping the ITC will pull the PS3 from American shelves. Geek.com's John Brownlee says Sony might benefit from a temporary ban on PS3 sales, saying "Sony's got a mess on their hands." You might remember, last month a hacker released the master key to the PS3. The master key allows software designers to home-brew their games on the system. It also lets gamers play copied software on their systems. According to Brownlee... "Instead of admitting that hackers caused them to halt PS3 shipments and redesign the system, they could then blame a competitor's litigiousness on the brief period where PS3s were off store shelves."
